McGuigan Lower Alcohol wines were produced to provide for wine drinkers who were still looking for the full flavour of a good Australian wine, but with slightly less alcohol.
This low alcohol shiraz began by picking the grapes at optimum ripeness to ensure great flavour and the best sugar content. The juice then underwent fermentation on skins before draining and pressing to extract all the juice. The wine went through malo-lactic fermentation and was oak matured in tank with American and French Oak. Natural methods were used to reduce the alcohol from 13.5% alcohol to 9.5% alcohol. The wine was bottled early to enable a soft, reduced alcohol wine to be produced that is still full of flavour.
